The Chandogya — the "Upanishad of the Chanters" — opens with the centrality of OM. The Udgitha is the loud-chant portion of the Sama Veda ritual. The opening word of every chant is OM. The Upanishad takes this ritual practice and turns it inward: meditate on OM not just as a sound to begin rituals, but as the very essence of essences — the seed-syllable of all that exists.
Let one meditate on the syllable OM as the Udgitha. With "Om" indeed the priest begins his loud song. Now follows the explanation.

Simple explanation
Editorial explanation, not scripture
Modern reflection
Editorial reflection, not scripture

शोध संदर्भResearch context · not scriptureComparative Research Noteशोध टिप्पणी
A modern parallel offered for reflection. It is not part of the scripture, and it has not been checked against the original sources it may allude to.
