English Analysis

From prefix "sam" (intensely/continually) + root "sṛ" (to flow). Literally: "saṁsarati iti saṁsāraḥ" — that which is constantly in perpetual flux and transmigration.

फिर जन्म, फिर मृत्यु और फिर गर्भ में वास! यह संसार पार करना अत्यंत कठिन है; हे प्रभु! अपनी असीम कृपा से मेरी रक्षा करो।

English Translation

Birth again, death again, and again lying in a mother’s womb! This cycle of worldly transmigration is terribly hard to cross; protect me, O Lord, through Your boundless compassion.

Samsara is a sacred school of wisdom and evolution. It is called transient (ashashvatam) to prevent foolish clinginess, not to cultivate cynicism.
