Reading aid for the sourceWord by word
The supreme mahāvākya. Sweeping enumeration of cosmos (gods, elements, all life-forms) — all led by consciousness, established in consciousness. The verse closes with the immortal four words: prajñānaṃ brahma.
This is Brahman; this is Indra; this is Prajāpati; these are all the gods. These five great elements — earth, wind, space, water, light — these and the apparent minor mixtures, all seeds of various kinds: egg-born, womb-born, sweat-born, sprout-born; horses, cows, humans, elephants — whatever is breathing, whether moving on legs or wings, or stationary. All this is led by consciousness; all this is established in consciousness. Consciousness is the eye of the world. Consciousness is its foundation. Consciousness is Brahman.

Simple explanation
Editorial explanation, not scripture
Modern reflection
Editorial reflection, not scripture

A modern parallel offered for reflection. It is not part of the scripture, and it has not been checked against the original sources it may allude to.
